SCHOOL NEWS
NEW MIDTERMS - are being sent home today for students in 3rd-6th grade. The midterms for 7th & 8th grade will be sent home on Monday, February 6th.
NEW YEARBOOK PICTURES - We are in need of pictures for the yearbook! We need candids of each class, Grandparents Day, PAHS Auction, Christmas programs (especially 6th -8th grade) and Christmas class parties, volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, and basketball. We also need candid group class pictures (i.e. entire second grade class at the rodeo, entire 6th grade class at Ernie Miller, etc.) ASAP. These group pictures will be used for the cover and that deadline is February 17th. Photos may be emailed to Jane Korte at jane_korte@sbcglobal.net, put on a zip drive or disk and brought to the school office, or a new feature - uploading them directly to the yearbook library. The directions for the upload are as follows:
1) Go to the yearbook website at http://www.yearbookwizard.com/uploads.
2) Type in the yearbook code - 69226115.
3) Type in the category name and choose “Create Category”. You may name the category whatever you wish, i.e. Smith pictures, 4th grade.
4) Click the “Browse” button to navigate to the folder where your images are stored.
5) Select the images you want to upload and click “Upload Files”.
6) Click “OK” and either choose Browse again to upload more images or choose logout if you are done. There is no limit to how many images a parent can upload, but there is a limit of 100 images per category.
The upload does not put the pictures in the book, but puts them in a hold file for the yearbook advisors to review and select images to upload to the yearbook.
NEW TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR - We will again be using the FACTS Grant and Aid program for administering financial aid. A flyer with information about the program was sent home in last Friday’s envelopes. The flyer explains the basics for applying for financial help. A letter with application details will also be sent home via email next week. There is a nonrefundable $25 application fee. The school does not want the application fee to be a deterrent for applying. If the fee is a concern, please contact Mr. Hanebutt. The on-line applications must be completed by April 15th. Aid provided will be for the whole school year. To apply online go to www.factstuitionaid.com. If you have questions about applying on-line or other questions regarding the financial aid program, contact the school office.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED - In order to promote global awareness in our families and classrooms, we would again like to bring some exchange students to Hope for the fall semester of 2012. The students will be in the 4th through 8th grade and attend school for the 2012-2013 school year. We are looking for host families who would like to experience an exciting cultural exchange and broaden perspectives of the world. Hosting an exchange student is much like having an adopted son or daughter for a year at a time, without the lifelong commitment. It will be a great educational experience for all the people involved, and it will be a lot of fun! The students, who are carefully selected, come to your home hoping to learn and experience American culture, language and values. We invite you and your family to join this memorable and rewarding cultural experience. Please call the school office or KoAm Education Alliance’s area coordinator, Mison Cowell at 402-991-4616 or 402-301-5257 for more information. You can learn more about KoAm at their website www.koameduall.org. You can also talk to our current host families: Dale and Roberta Schempp and Doug and Jennifer Mahnken or past host families, Tom and Kerri Hutchinson and DJ and Pam Johnson.

We are keeping track and posting our progress as we work toward our goal of 15,000! There is also an opportunity to earn eBox Tops at www.boxtopsforeducation.com by playing games, watching videos, etc. So even if you shop at Aldi's or buy store brands, you too can help raise money for our school!
